The Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava-Girona Bike Show is scheduled to take place in spring 2017, from 2 to 4 June. It marks the first time in Europe for what is considered one of the world’s largest and most comprehensive bicycling and outdoor sports festivals, the Sea Otter Classic, which has been held in Laguna Seca (California, USA) for the past 25 years. This event is poised to turn the Costa Brava and Girona into a landmark bicycling and sporting destination for Southern Europe and place it on a par with other world-class cycling regions.
This morning has been presented to the city of Girona, with the presence of the Local Development and Tourism Councillor, Gloria Plana; the Director of Tourism Costa Brava Girona, Ramon Ramos; the regional representative of Sport of the Catalan Government, Josep Pujols, and the festival director, Oriol Sallent.
The heart of the festival, which will consist of 50,000 m² of exhibition and activity space and has already confirmed the participation of the bicycling world’s top brands, will take place in and around the Girona-Fontajau Municipal Pavilion, dab in the heart of Girona. The pavilion and part of the outside area will host the bulk of the exhibitions and displays reserved for industry-related products, accessories and services, while the other outdoor areas will accommodate the start and finish lines for the sporting events along the Costa Brava and Girona, international cycling competitions –including the International Biking Point MBT Catalan Cup, the Pirinexus 360 Challenge and the ITT– amateur races, exhibitions and paddocks. The Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava-Girona Bike Show will be a first-rate international festival and watershed moment that enables industry brands to introduce the upcoming season’s new products, not to mention a prime opportunity for bicycle distributors and retailers, tourism, urban mobility and pro-cycling institutions and even organisers of events and bicycling activities.
The organisers expect upwards of 20,000 people to attend the festival, which will be a fantastic showcase for both established and newly-created brands and new products. The European version of the legendary Sea Otter Classic, an internationally renowned festival that is set to revolutionise Spain’s cycling industry on 2, 3, and 4 June, is a must-go event for all two-wheel enthusiasts.
