The Marathon Cup is paired with Roc Laissagais, a prestigious MTB race

The Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava-Girona Bike Show continues to further its process of internationalisation by forging alliances between one of its main events, the MTB Marathon Cup, and Roc Laissagais, one of the most prestigious MTB races on the European circuit, which has been held in Laissac (France) for the past 27 years. This legendary meeting point for mountain bike enthusiasts was the site of last year’s MTB World Championships and is a renowned event which each year captures the attention of the entire MTB world.

The Marathon Cup and Roc Laissagais share a number of values. Both are cycling festivals open to everyone from the best riders and world champions to amateurs and cycling enthusiasts. The two sporting line-ups also offer a wide array of competitions, thanks to which anyone who feels so inclined may participate in any of the MTB, Enduro, Cross Country and Marathon disciplines.

The alliance between Sea Otter Europe and Roc Laissagais strengthens the bonds between two stunning territories, the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees and the French region of Occitania, and also promotes involvement in a sport that for many is a philosophy of life.

The Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava-Girona Bike Show will be held in Girona from 8-10 June 2018 and will include several high-profile MTB competitions, such as the Catalan Cup International Massi Biking Point, which will have a class 1 ranking according to the UCI. Another of the main mountain bike events will be the Scott MTB Marathon by Tamory, which this year is a fixture on the 2018 Marathon Cup calendar. This race will, like last year, give spectators the chance to see world champions and top-level athletes, who will compete over two distances: 45 and 64 km. Just like in the first edition, there will also be a non-competitive version of the Marathon Cup, which also include 45 and 64km tracks and is open to all MTB enthusiasts. Choose the distance and pace with which you would like to complete the race.

This impressive roster of mountain biking events is rounded off with the E-MTB Marathon, an electric bike race with two tracks and different distances, and the second edition of the delightful XCO Classic, which will feature bikes pre-dating 1990 and, in the first edition, helped create a much appreciated climate of nostalgia among the participants.

Roc Laissagais, on the other hand, will take place on 7 and 8 April 2018. The Marathon competition will be part of the UCI circuit, and the event will feature such prominent names as Julien Absalon, Jean-Christophe Peraud, Tiago Ferreira and Jolanda Neff, among others.

The alliance between these two events was forged thanks to a shared outlook on the cycling world and their implication with the territory.
