What is the Gran Fondo World Tour?

Gran Fondo World Tour® Fund brings together the best events from global amateur cycling on a single tour to give participants the chance to feel like a professional cyclist for a day while travelling all over the planet. Gran Fondo World Tour combines the best-placed events while lending great importance to the routes and the landscapes they pass through. An international tour that brings people together to share a single passion: road cycling. By taking part in the GFWT, both the strongest and the least experienced riders have a chance to discover different cultures and perfect places to enjoy cycling. Its goal is to offer people a tour on which to have fun and put themselves in the shoes of their idols, albeit just for a weekend.

12 races, four continents and one Gran Fondo World Tour® title, men’s and women’s in 2018. Only one event will take place in Spain, the Sea Otter Europe International Cycle Tour, in Girona on 9 and 10 June 2018. A unique opportunity for all national racers.

The Gran Fondo events are large-scale cycling events that have become highly popular around Europe and are now starting to gain momentum in North America, Asia and Africa.

Where did Gran Fondo begin?

Gran Fondo is a sports event, a cultural gathering and life experience all in one, which began in Italy. It was set up as a way for people with a common passion to get together and enjoy the mountains through cycling. The Gran Fondo events originated in Italy in the early 1900s, and have been a part of Italian cycling culture and tradition for over 100 years. As the years went by, the concept was internationalised so people all over the world could enjoy these events.

What do you get?

Once you have registered for the Gran Fondo World Tour via USK Training (event partner), they offer to design training plans for all the cyclists intending to take part in any of the tour races.

The goal of the training plans is to help cyclists achieve their target for the various stages of the tour they take part in, whether that be simply to finish their chosen event while getting the most from the experience or to ensure they perform to the best of their ability. Everyone is free to choose how they want to take part in the Gran Fondo World Tour.

Make sure you don’t miss this opportunity. We’ll see you at the starting line!
