Garmin Becomes Main Sponsor of the Sea Otter Europe by Garmin 2025 Festival

Garmin becomes the main sponsor of Europe’s leading cycling market festival. Attendees will enjoy activities and exhibitions, as well as stay up-to-date on all the company’s latest developments.

March 2025. Garmin becomes the main technology sponsor of Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava-Girona by Garmin: a globally recognized festival among the industry and cycling enthusiasts.

As usual, Garmin returns as the main technology provider for the festival, but this year it does so in a very special way: becoming the main sponsor of the event and accompanying the change of name, which in 2025 will be Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava-Girona by Garmin. This collaboration occurred naturally because both brands share the core values of the spirit that drives cycling: the pursuit of overcoming limits, breaking barriers, finding new challenges, and enjoying the practice of this sport.

In the words of Salvador Alcover, General Manager of Garmin Iberia: “It is a pleasure and an honor to once again sponsor a festival as relevant as Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava-Girona by Garmin, not only as a technology partner but as main sponsors. Those of us who are part of the cycling industry understand that a process of constant improvement is essential, which is why, from Garmin, we provide all lovers of this sport with the best technology we can offer to help them meet their goals and overcome any obstacle.”

Sea Otter Europe: much more than a bicycle festival

Sea Otter Europe is much more than a cycling event. It is a global community that brings together professionals, amateurs, families, and enthusiasts of all kinds. The inspiration and origin can be found in Sea Otter Classic, one of the largest cycling festivals on the planet that has been held in California since 1991, which has continued to grow and evolve ever since. As for the European version, this will be its ninth edition in Girona and will take place from September 19 to 21, after the great success of the last edition, in which more than 68,000 visitors from 112 nationalities attended the event during the three days of the festival to enjoy the more than 500 exhibiting brands, and a total of 597 demobikes, with more than 4,790 test reservations from 50 different bicycle brands.

In this new edition, Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava-Girona by Garmin premieres its new image with a change that is a declaration of intent: the festival enters a new era. Changing its characteristic red color to blue, it symbolizes the maturity of an event already established as one of the main meeting points for the industry. A scenario that opens a new horizon, continuing with the commitment to innovation and cycling technology, and that is prepared to take the definitive leap to become a more international global festival. This new chapter comes with a key partnership: Garmin, which joins as the main sponsor, reinforcing its commitment to cutting-edge technology, precision, and performance in cycling. Together, we will elevate the Sea Otter Europe experience to a new level.

“This is a step forward in our history. We want Sea Otter Europe to be a space where the cycling community grows, innovates, and lives unforgettable experiences. In addition, we are excited to take this leap hand in hand with Garmin, a benchmark in technology and performance, which shares our vision of taking cycling to a new level,” says Albert Balcells, director of Sea Otter Europe.

Garmin brings its cycling ecosystem to support all athletes

In this new edition, Garmin brings precision, exploration, and performance in cycling with its entire ecosystem of devices. The company will have a presence within the festival, bringing to the field a stand with experts who will bring their products closer to curious people and participants. In addition, you can test their products within the demobike program, being great allies for routes, gravel, road, urban, ebike and mountain bike tours.

On the other hand, this renewed collaboration not only brings the presence of Garmin in the name of the festival, but there will also be training sessions, interviews and contests, among many other surprises. We recommend following Garmin’s social networks closely so you don’t miss a detail!

During the festival, attendees will be able to see in situ some of the reference products developed by Garmin for this area: Edge® 1050; the Varia® range; the Rally® power meters and the Tacx® rollers, and even test them thanks to the Sea Otter tester app. And, of course, they will also be able to discover the latest news from the brand first-hand.

The highlighted ranges are the following:

Edge® 1050: with a bright AMOLED screen, it allows greater visibility of indications and topo maps. In addition, it includes improved functions such as the power guide, which now takes into account wind data and the cyclist’s current Stamina to make real-time adjustments to power targets. ClimbPro allows cyclists to see the remaining ascent and slope of each climb, whether they are on a route or not. Advanced cycling dynamics provide cyclists with information about their performance and mountain bike metrics, such as jump count, jump distance, Grit® and Flow™, help track every epic ride.
Varia: composed of radars specially created for cyclists, this product range is committed to greater safety on bicycles as it allows them to see and be seen by vehicles when riding on the road. These devices also warn the cyclist if a vehicle is approaching from behind up to a distance of 140 meters and some models, those with a built-in rear light, alert vehicle drivers of the cyclist’s presence up to 1.6 km away.
Rally: this line of power meters allows you to exceed the limits in any of the modalities. Developed to cover the needs of any type of cyclist, these power meters are designed for all types of bicycles, whether road, MTB, gravel, cross-country or cyclocross.
Tacx®: the products that make up this range have been designed to fully enjoy indoor cycling, allowing you to pedal indoors when the weather does not allow you to do it outdoors or, also, to enhance performance for the routes that are made outside.

Soon all the routes of all the sporting events of Sea Otter Europe by Garmin 2025 will be available on the festival website to be able to test and train each of them before participating in them during the festival. In addition, participants will have the tracks to download them on their Garmin devices.

Designed on the inside for life outside, Garmin products have revolutionized the lives of runners, cyclists, swimmers, and athletes of all levels and abilities. Committed to developing technology that helps people stay active and elevate their performance. Garmin believes that every day is an opportunity to innovate and surpass yesterday.
